Ever since I was about eleven, NPR has featured Susan Stanberg’s cranberry relish around Thanksgiving. Technically, it’s her mother-in-law’s recipe, and it’s very very different. It’s also very pink, and I rather like it. I’m looking forward to trying another Susan Stanberg cranberry relish; this one a recipe from Madhur Jaffrey that’s a chutney and includes ginger and pepper. Plague reached Europe by Stone Age Researchers tested over 500 ancient skeletal samples. Six individuals (variously dated from Late Neolithic to the Bronze Age) contained the full genomes of plague bacteria. The individuals whose samples contained the plague came from Russia, Germany, Lithuania, Estonia and Croatia.

It’s Time to Accept That Elephants, Like Us, Are Empathetic Beings Well, yeah, Elephants are empathic and very worth protecting and ensuring their continued happy and healthy existence. I’m less sure about humans.
